Classes
The College strives to bring about the best in each student. The classes are arranged into year groups and graded, whenever possible.
Classes run at a maximum of five students* in Years 7 – 11 (Year 12 moves between small groups to individual and pairs depending on what is needed at the time. If the class runs as a lecture it will be a bigger group but will run for a longer duration.
* If we have a school year group, we may run a class of six students, but no more.
Make-up lessons
If you are sick or unable to attend a lesson, you will need to contact us before the missed class in order to qualify for a make-up lesson. You need to lodge the absentee/make-up form online (www.mcduffenglishcollege.com/absenteemake-up-request/). If you fail to turn up to a lesson without notice, then no make-up lesson will be arranged, and you will forfeit that week’s class. Make-ups will be in the form of a recording of the week’s lesson missed. If possible we will try to move you into another class that same weekend. For more information please go to Make-up Policy.
Fees cannot be carried forward to the next term or reimbursed.
Homework
Your teacher may request that a certain text be read or homework set. You will need to complete what is set for you as the lessons following will be structured with the assumption that each student has read/completed the set tasks.
Class times
It should be noted that although the College tries to maintain the same time slot for you throughout the year, there may be times when we recommend that you move to a different class. This is to ensure that you are tutored to the level most suited to you and will help ensure you perform at your optimum.
Fee structure
If you are accepted a deposit of $100.00 is required to secure your spot in the class. This will be taken off the term fees. The remainder of the term fees are payable on or before the first lesson of each term. If you commence your class mid-way through the term, the fees will be adjusted (that is, pro-rated) accordingly.
Each term, we will ask for $100 deposit which holds your spot for the following term. This has to be paid BEFORE THE END OF EACH TERM and is deducted from the fees when you return the next term.
Once you begin the term, your term fees are not refundable.
Your deposit is not refundable after the last day of the previous term.
Classes run for:
Year 7 – 8: 10 weeks x 1 hour 40 mins

Year 9 – 10: 9 weeks x 1 hour 40 mins + 1 week x 4 hours for the lecture week (in-lieu of the normal class) It will be 2 hours on the Saturday and 2 hours on the Sunday of Week 9.

Year 11: 9 weeks x 1 hour 50 mins + 1 week x 4 hours for the lecture week (in-lieu of the normal class) It will be 2 hours on the Saturday and 2 hours on the Sunday of Week 9.
Year 12 = Between 1 and 2 hours depending on configuration of students.
We usually run on a 10 week term. Term 4 is a Prep term for the following year.
2022/23 Term Fees for a 10 week term are:
Prep 7 / Year 7 = $ 870 per term (10 x time pressure and 10 x small group classes).
Prep 8 / Year 8 = $ 920 per term (10 x time pressure and 10 x small group classes).
NOTE: Years 9-11 more sessions are included in the fees than Years 7-8
Prep 9 / Year 9 = $1155 per term (9 x time pressure, 9 x small group classes, 1 x 2 hour analytical session and 1 x 2 hour creative session).
Prep 10 /Year 10 = $1245 per term (9 x time pressure, 9 x small group classes, 1 x 2 hour analytical session and 1 x 2 hour creative session).
Prep 11/ Year 11 = $1425 per term (9 x time pressure, 9 x small group classes, 1 x 2 hour analytical session and 1 x 2 hour creative session).
Year 12 fee schedule is complex because it is dependent upon many variables such as individual or double, Extension 1 or Extension 2, what term it is, holiday lectures etc. Fees will range from $1880 to around $2700 per term depending on what term it is and if the student is doing any Extension lessons.
Loyalty discounts are given for Year 12 students who:
1. Have attended the College continuously since Term 1 Year 7 (10%) or
2. Have attended the College continuously since Term 1 Year 8 ( 7%) or
3. Have attended the College continuously since Term 1 Year 9 ( 5%) or
Sibling discount:
1) 2 siblings 5% off eldest child’s fees.
2) 3 or more siblings 10% off eldest child’s fees.
All prices are inclusive of GST.

Interview/Assessment
If you would like to apply for a position at the College just fill out the form by following this link, Student Application Form . An interview will then be organised to assess your current ability and provide us with the information required to prepare the foundations for your growth and success within your new class. The interview will run as an individual session for 45-50 minutes followed by a further 10 minutes for any questions. The cost of the assessment will be $110 (inclusive of GST).
